Important results from the project
The goal of the project was to create a shared agenda for research and innovation on metallic materials, with strong support among different stakeholders. This goal has been achieved and the agenda has been positively received by the stakeholders.
Expected long term effects
The results of the project are a strategic research and innovation agenda, approximately 100 project ideas and an application for a SIO-program, all exceeding the initial expectations. The project has established collaboration between The Swedish Steel Producers´ Association (Jernkontoret), Swedish Aluminium and the Swedish Foundry Association. Existing collaboration among the members of these three organisations and other stakeholders have been strengthened and a number of new initiatives have been developed for collaboration between different stakeholders..
Approach and implementation
Input to the project was obtained from discussions, interviews, workshops, and a review of relevant material. The result, a vast and heterogeneous collection of goals, knowledge gaps, strategies, research needs etc, was compiled and analyzed. A draft of the agenda was written and circulated for comments. The goals and strategies of the agenda were translated into an application for a SIO program. Overall, the project has been successful. The short time frame and the large number of players made this work very challenging but the involvement and response of stakeholders was impressive.
