Purpose and goal
The project has contributed with knowledge, we have showed a good learning curve, been able to adapt to technology/trends. If we had continued on what we set out to do, we had been but one project of many in the same field; instead we contributed with something new. The same group has worked successfully in the APIS project; hence there are possibilities for future research and development. It is also possible to include new and more partners. We did successfully build on findings from the APIS-project. All project results (handbook, demonstrators) are available on the project website.
Results and expected effects
The demonstrators we have developed were initially intended as evidence that we had been able to link data from different sources. But the demonstrators are also useful tools for us to demonstrate to the culture heritage community what is possible to do with their data. Of the participating organizations, the National Archives in Estonia and Iceland are planning for continuation of the demonstrator development. In Sweden the Stockholm City Archives will be asked whether they want to take over and maintain the Swedish demonstrator. The Handbook is published and available for all.
Approach and implementation
In the beginning of the project we developed a time plan which we did not really succeed to follow because of our re-direction towards Linked Open Data. We re-worked the time plan and have since then almost succeeded to stick to it. This means that the deliverables and the five Action Points we decided are accomplished. We have had regular meetings (in total 28) through Skype, but also met in person. (The 24-25 October 2012 in Tallin, the 25-26 March 2013 in Uppsala, the 18-19 September in Stockholm and the 7-8 April in Luleå).
