Purpose and goal

With project support from Vinnova, Tendo AB has optimized its product, a grip-assisting glove, which helps individuals to drop, hold and grip objects intuitively. Despite challenges with delayed user tests due to covid-19, the project has continued and greater focus has been placed on further optimizing the product before the final tests were carried out. New software and electronics are in place, and the sensor technology has been significantly improved, in addition to a new type of sensor that can further improve the user experience.

Expected results and effects

The result was a new iteration of the product that was improved in all respects. The validation, which was carried out together with users and a clinic, shows that the need for Tendo´s product is great and that a market introduction is close. The product´s functions are in place, and what remains is to refine the processes of individual customization to optimize the function of the product for each individual user. The work with our partner clinics has been improved during the project, and as soon as the clinics open, many more user tests and workshops will be carried out.

Planned approach and implementation

All employees in Tendo have been involved in the project from the start with close cooperation between the parties. A large part of the project was about developing a new circuit board, and this was done in collaboration with Sigma Lundinova AB. Close cooperation was required between software, mechanical and electrical engineers from both Tendo AB and Sigma Lundinova AB. A lot of energy has been put into finding people with whom we could perform user tests, and even though the setbacks were great at this point, we succeeded in the end, even though we wanted to test the product on more people.
