Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The objective of the project has been to build a strategic national platform for research, development and production of radiation detectors and detector based applications. The goal for the platform is to coordinate the activities in the area in order to strengthen research as well as commercialization of research results. The initial focus has been to involve industry in the activities. The goals of the project are fulfilled since there is now a functioning platform.

Results and expected effects

The result of the project is the national network of companies and scientists working together to develop strategies and programs for research, development and production of radiation detectors. Critical issues have been identified where initial activities will be performed. The work is done on close collaboration with the ERDIT network in order to influence the research and development programs on the European level.

Approach and implementation

The project had organized three meetings in Kista with participation from companies and scientists. In addition a questionnaire on competence and interest has been sent to participating companies. Information on European programs for research and development has been given and different lobbying strategies have been discussed. A joint program for the continued operation of the platform is under development. Since this activity started from scratch substantial efforts have been made to build the initial network.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
