Purpose and goal

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The research project “Leading digital transformation of physical spaces” was carried out by researchers at Uppsala University in collaboration with three partner organizations during the years 2019-2020. The aim was to develop knowledge of, and tools for understanding, how the physical space and its digitalization affect the interaction between actors, among other things with regard to communication, trust and legitimacy.

Expected results and effects

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** New insights into what happens when organizations introduce the use of digital tools within existing use of physical spaces. Unexpected effects arise, where the handling of information and trust between individuals is affected, and institutional structures, in the form of social norms, are affected, which can give rise to unexpected contradictions and operational disruptions.

Planned approach and implementation

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The study used a comparative approach, where three different organizations were studied and compared in an exploratory way regarding their use of digital tools and the physical spaces. Extensive data was collected through observations, interviews, workshops and documents. The theory base "institutional logics" was used to analyze selected situations, create insights, and formulate normative recommendations.
