Purpose and goal
Ekström & Son (Ekström) aims to pursue a major market opportunity by developing and commercializing a radical new Air Preheater (APH) to be used in Carbon Black (CB) production. By combining novel materials with innovative design features, the APH air temperature can be increased to 1000°C, levels not ever seen before. This goal has been achieved.
Expected results and effects
A design has been developed and tested, material and suppliers have been singled out for a supply list. The project has resulted in a product/prototype ready for commercial launch.
Planned approach and implementation
This project is divided into well defined work packages (WP), each one managed by an appointed WP owner in the project organization, which in turn is managed by a Project Manager (PM). Furthermore a CB producer (providing test site), a Material producer (expertise support in material engineering/production) have been included The project is planned to start January 1st 2016 and last 20 months. The project was finished during 2H 2017.
