Purpose and goal

Together with people with bipolar disorder, we have designed a digitally assisted self-reflection with mapping of symptoms and early signs, risk factors for deterioration and influential health-promoting areas and social networks. The results are visualized through principles from data storytelling. The app increases self-leadership, health and participation for people with bipolar disorder by providing the opportunity to design personal strategies to prevent active disease episodes and strengthen their quality of life.

Expected results and effects

A digital tool that provides knowledge about bipolar disorder and the users own individual signature, life habits and risk factors and that strengthens the sense of self management. In the tool, you can design your own plan to reduce risks, strengthen health-promoting factors and counteract symptoms. The aid is well placed to increase symptom control and reduce the number of relapses and thereby improve health, psychosocial conditions, autonomy and participation in people with bipolar disorder.

Planned approach and implementation

The project was carried out through data collection, development and testing of concepts, production of prototypes and requirements and system development. Great focus has been on analysis of user needs and a relevant whole with a focus not only on the absence of disease but on health and quality of life. The tool has become somewhat more extensive and complex than expected and the development work has taken more time. Planning included testing and release that will be carried out after the end of the project period.
