Important results from the project
The project has considerably strengthened my academic career. It provided a number of opportunities to further develop my theoretical research in image analysis and to apply it in demand-driven real life applications relevant for biomedical industry and health care in Sweden. I have improved leadership and managerial skills, established own research group at Uppsala University, and extended and broadened my multidisciplinary collaborative network. I have disseminated and sustained my research, at the same time setting new challenging goals for my scientific development.
Expected long term effects
The project has provided strong support for my scientific career and contributed to my establishment as a project leader at an international level. It led to increase of the breadth of my research profile. Collaborations with researchers from Uppsala University, Swedish companies (Vironova, Protracer) and health care sector have strengthened my experiences of needs-driven research. Participation in leadership courses and scientific forums contributed to my skills of a group leader. I have actively contributed my knowledge and experience to a number of granted research projects.
Approach and implementation
I successfully identified the needs and made an appropriate strategy to reach the project goals. I appreciate the support networks I joined at UU; they helped me to refine my goals and further improve my career development strategies. The dynamic environment of researchers at the international top level in which I have been working has generated mutual exchange of experience and knowledge and led to new exciting research results. I got a number of opportunities to develop my soft skills. I have been appointed higher academic positions at both University of Novi Sad and Uppsala University.
