Purpose and goal
The FFI ECRA project is based on the earlier FFI projects ECAE (Dnr 2012-03676) and Ethernet AVB (Dnr 2013-04722). The purpose of ECRA is to address and resolve open issues identified in these projects, considering also recent advances in automotive Ethernet technology and IEEE and OPEN standardization. The main project objective is to support efficient implementation of reliable, robust and real-time communication over switched Ethernet networks for future advanced automotive applications.
Expected results and effects
Theoretical studies about reliable, real-time, robust and deterministic Ethernet communication for the automotive domain. A holistic analysis of real-time scheduling in vehicular networks. Methods to enhance existing software tools and implementation of Ethernet in vehicular networks. Proposals for system and software architectures when migrating to Ethernet. A demonstrator proving efficiency of implementation in an environment mixing non-critical and critical data and control signalling. The project will also strengthen competence in the area of automotive Ethernet.
