Wavebreaker-innovative noise damping

Reference number
Coordinator Wavebreaker AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 300 000
Project duration May 2018 - December 2018
Status Completed
Venture Innovative Startups

Purpose and goal

Wavebreaker AB was to develop and patent an innovative damper, based on interference technology, which improves today´s noise barriers for train noise. The company has developed a unique and adaptive damper and submitted an EP application.

Expected results and effects

Wavebreaker has great potential to become an important noise protection for the construction of infrastructure in densely populated areas at lower costs than comparable methods. The product will be unique in the global market. Statistics show that women use public means of transport more than men. The noise damper will thus not only contribute to the sustainable development of built environment and infrastructure, but also to a more equal society.

Planned approach and implementation

The overall plan was to carry out technical investigations as a basis for the patent application and apply for a European patent. This has been done during summer-autumn 2018. The project also included keeping customer meetings on the Swedish market and conducting market research for selected interesting markets within and outside Europe. As a result, product requirements have been established and a marketing plan has been made.
