Purpose and goal
The objective has been to develop and test a prototype for an empathy-inducing VR game, aiming to result in a methodology for empathy-improving game design for a global market. The results included a finalised playable VR prototype game, scientifically tested and proven to have a positive effect on the brain´s empathy development. Based on this, we defined a methodology for empathy-inducing game design, along with an IPR strategy, which can be launched on the market.
Expected results and effects
The project resulted in a finalised playable VR prototype game, scientifically tested and proven to have a positive effect on the brain´s empathy development (by Dr Jeff Tarrant), and a detailed report and strategy for its IPR potential (developed by Bergenstråhle). Based on this, we expect to be able to offer a solution combining VR gaming and VR therapy, with the potential to create societal benefits on the future gaming market.
Planned approach and implementation
The project was carried out in three phases according to plan: 1. Technological development of VR prototype. The game was extended with additional sequences, eye tracking and haptic input. 2. The prototype was scientifically tested through brain wave scanning, in collaboration with Sarah Hill and Dr Jeff Tarrant. 3. An IPR analysis and strategy was defined for the method.
