Project duration October 2017 - December 2019
Status Completed
Venture Circular economy
Call Circular economy - Development & Innovation projects

Purpose and goal

The project contributes to the transition to a circular economy by showing a concrete example of how a company can work according to circular principles with product design, business model and withdrawal of its products. Accus AB has developed a product portfolio of circular signs under the Re:sign concept and systematically changed the company business model towards an increased focus on function and service instead of on product. The results of the project have been continuously communicated to the industry, to other companies and to an interested public sector.

Expected results and effects

The project has given Accus AB the opportunity to internally increase the knowledge of circular principles and created the basis for developing and offering customers circular products and services. In addition to being able to sign circular with significantly lower environmental impact, Accu´s work is a good example for other companies, both within and outside the industry, who show what a circular changeover can look like. The most central conclusion of the project is that a circular changeover requires a lot of communication both internally and with suppliers and customers.

Planned approach and implementation

The project has been carried out mainly by Accus AB, but also in collaboration with project partners for knowledge exchange and development of prototypes and systems for recycling. The project has focused on the areas design, business models and recycling. The work at the beginning of the project progressed mostly parallel, at the end of the project the areas has been more and more are woven together into a cohesive concept offered to the customer. The researcher Hervé Corvellec from Lunds Universitet has actively participated and pushed the project process forward.
