Purpose and goal

The purpose was to design a new painting service where the entire process will be covered by activities with minimal climate impact. The impact has been calculated. With the help of suppliers, customers, consultant and internal efforts, the project has resulted in a lifecycle analysis that highlights the differ between a conventional and climate-neutral painting service. The goal was also to test the feasibility of a climate-neutral painting service, which has been done during a constructionproject. In this way, purpose and goals have been anchored theoretically and practically.

Expected results and effects

Framtidens Måleri has resulted in an action plan for how to reduce the ecological footprint from a painting service. The project has led to new dialogues with actors to be able to recycle materials that today can not be recycled. The project has resulted in a potential collaboration that can lead to the design of new industrial symbiosis where waste material can be used as backfill in concrete production. The result of Framtidens Måleri is expected to provide a theoretical and practical basis for the painting and construction industry regarding measures to reduce climate impact.

Planned approach and implementation

The project´s approach has been based on four work packages which have focused on areas that have been defined as important for achieving a successful project. It is considered advantageous that the project has included a combination of theoretical and practical activities to anchor science with feasibility and vice versa. Since the start of the project, the approach has been permeated by continuous reconciliation meetings and follow-up analyzes to optimize progress, schedule and results. In this way, the implementation has succeeded in being smooth and fruitful.
