Important results from the project

The goal was to create at least two new innovative last-mile flows for deliveries and returns. The result has been that we, together with one of the world´s largest logistics companies, have evaluated redirection of service point packages. For returns, we have implemented flows for collecting returns, where the customer has been given an alternative to go to the agent to send back returns.

Expected long term effects

The conclusion of redirection of serivce point parcels is that it is in great demand by users, provides a more efficient distribution and fewer people take the car back and forth to pick up parcels. The project has been very successful and scaling the solution is expected in the future. For returns, we have seen that the collection becomes a fairly simple distribution that can be handled at any time, in existing energy-efficient flows. In this way, the returns can also be more environmentally friendly than today.

Approach and implementation

Service point redirect project - the project has worked well and keeping it to a geographically delimited area (one zip code) has also made it easy to follow both users´ and drivers´ experience of distribution and reception. Technically integrating the process easily but scalably is a difficult issue that requires close dialogue and cooperation from all parties. When the development takes place internally (as in the return flow), this issue is less complex, but requires a thorough analysis as well.
