Purpose and goal

We’ve fulfilled our purpose to implement an IoT system for measuring and analysing positions and flow of patients, staff and equipment at the emergency in Lund. Further to evaluate approach and technology, and to be continuously responsive to new needs and ideas. Finally, to lay a basis for commercial services. We’ve achieved our objective to give the operation a tool to streamline flows and resources, to minimize waiting time, optimize value creating time for patients and staff, and to optimize reception and care. Further we’ve answered our issues satisfactory.

Expected results and effects

Pos of equip and humans may be visualized in real time. Surveys indicate that; searching after equip has decreased with up to 2/3, i.e. saving 5000 h/year, further that searching after pat and staff has decreased from 30 to 20 min/beat. Data analysis indicate that one may; update pat’ positions in Patientliggaren, estimate doctors’ time with pat, follow an infected pat backwards in time to determine contact with humans/equip/rooms, see if a bed has been cleaned, share equip between dep, measure degree of workload, i.e. patterns when high prio pat is exchanged with low prio pat in exam rooms.

Planned approach and implementation

The proj is built around an equip pilot for 2 years, 2 smaller staff pilots with doctors and nurses, and a pat pilot for evaluation. Finally, a larger pilot, with an ethics application, where we in parallel traced pat, staff and equip during a month. Generally, the work has been driven very close to the staff, with meetings every second week. Focus has been on concrete limited pilots and continuous iterative functionality growth. In this way, we fulfilled operation’s needs and gained great involvement and commitment from the staff.
