LOFA (fault location system for overhead lines)

Purpose and goal

The main objective is to generate as complete as possible requirement specification for a new product.The product solves an old need in a unique way.The need is to locate small earth fault currents in Over head line high voltage distribution.Since the product is unique, the requirements are not clear and ready to apply. The project result is a very comprehensive specification which the product developement will be based upon.

Expected results and effects

We have a requirement specification including both measurable and non-measurable aspects and functions. We expect to perform all tests on product based on this reuquirement specification, and get approval to all measurable paramenters. The final customer input will be obtained and fulfilled during pilot installations

Planned approach and implementation

Through dialogue with customers, we have identified which aspects and requirements affect the performance. For the Chinese market, we have also compared related product systems, with other performance and lower performance. We have adressed the unique and different parts of our new product and attempted to capture the essential aspects that most of the customers wish us to meet. Project participants from China and us visiting clients, have given us insights that are necessary.
