The objective to verify the "Hard thin films" on the basis of the application is met and shown reproducible properties, good adhesion and more than twice as hard and scratch resistant as window-and "Gorilla glass". Objective to analyze the market and create contacts have resulted in an indication of interest to coat polymer touchscreens with potential for future mobile devices. Contacts with interested business partners has been established. The project has provided a blueprint for what is required for the development of the company business model and IPR strategy of 2018.
Expected long term effects
The project has resulted in a number of valuable conclusions and strategy for the development of the company in 2018. The innovation "Hard thin films" is verified and the properties that leads to improved, more durable products for several different types of transparent materials. The project has provided the contacts to the market that will be developed. The conclusion of business model is that added capital is needed and more human resources who can work focused with the development of the company. The project has also led to an IPR strategy.
Approach and implementation
The project was conducted in three sub-projects. Project “materials verification” could not be staffed according to plan, but demanded recruitment and extension of the project period. In the studies on market analysis, business model and IPR strategy, consultants have been active. The market analysis has been carried out later in the project period and is a "scan" of the consultant´s existing network of contacts + some new contacts. The large market and number of actors involved with screens and other transparent materials make it hard to reach a full mapping within a smaller project.
