Purpose and goal
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** During this project, a thermally operated gas compressor designed for cooling systems has been developed, in hand-held size and without moving parts. It is driven through thermal diffusion through porous membranes. A composite material of graphene, and a suitable manufacturing process for this, has been developed to improve the compressive thermal conductivity of the compressor. An advancing heat exchanger using the same graphene material has also been taken to the prototype stage.
Expected results and effects
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The products developed have generated valuable interest both in Sweden and internationally, as well as created customer-financed development projects and product sales. The composite based on graphene allows the utilization of the high thermal conductivity of graphene in mechanically demanding applications. APR Technologies has helped pave the way for this material to find many new enhancement applications in the energy field.
Planned approach and implementation
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** During the course of the project, APR Technologies mainly developed a thermally driven compressor in several prototypes, as well as a counter-flowing heat exchanger and the cooling system´s integration overall. SHT Smart High Tech and Chalmers Technical University developed and acted as a supplier of graphene-based films and advisors.
