Purpose and goal

The purpose of this project was to develop our core technology and make it platform independent, to apply for patents and to validate the artistic quality through different kinds of interactions with the technology. All aspects of the project has beed fulfilled with very good result. We have also found new use cases for our technology that will lead to both new services/products and to new patent applications.

Expected results and effects

The result of Gestrument Alive has been better than what we expected. Not only have we fulfilled all parts of the project plan, it has also lead to new insights, new commercial possibilities and new ideas for patent applications that we will be able to go through with in the future. We have made the software development in collaboration with a paying customer (NeCo Software) and we have several potential clients and projects in our pipeline as a direct result of this project.

Planned approach and implementation

We had a solid foundation from Phase 1 of our project which meant that we knew exactly what we wanted to do and how to achieve that. The only thing that deviated from our original plan is that we needed a broader variety of artistic validation, so the collaboration with ShareMusic has been a bit smaller than we first thought, instead we put more efforts on other types of artistic validation, for instance Jesper Nordins collaboration with conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen, clarinet player Martin Fröst and some of the leading symphony orchestras in Europe.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
