Purpose and goal
We needed a clear example and a first demo to expose the concept to the target group as well for our selfs. XR is full of potential but pretty hard for people to grasp without testing. Flowtropolis want to show the strength of this new medium by exploring it as a productivity tool. Some nice side effects was the revelations of the positive impact this should have on stress when working in open landscapes. It was important for us to express ourself with a first demo as clear as we could. This first version really helped us to communicate the vision of where we are headed.
Expected results and effects
The result became a first prototype that enabled us to communicate effectively what Flowtropolis aim for in the future. It´s not good business to own every problem in the product chain as it´s as complex as it can be. Fortunately we could see several predictions already present themselves during the fall. That was great for us and a receipt the market forces was in need for a solution for such a problem. Participants has showed a positive attitude and agree that taking this one step at the time seems to be a good bet while waiting for technology mature step by step. Part of the product can come first.
Planned approach and implementation
We started with a research to get a better view of the market and which parties we should be aware of. We tried to keep an eye during the whole project cycle but not be to bothered about what others are doing. We worked agile all the way and tried to see the demo prototype as the communication platform where we had our opportunity to try out as many ideas as possible related to the project. We also did a lot of test drilling in tasks to extract sample data from uncertain efforts so we could get an understanding if we were able to get that in the demo at this time. We also had meetings in VR as much as we could.
