Purpose and goal
The aim of the project was to expand Tntor (now Kollin) to 4 new technical universities and eventually make it become a reference for exam-preparation. We have managed to get between 100 and 400 new students at each new school, as well as 1,000 new students from KTH. There are improvements on the content and on the product to be made before we put more money into marketing. We will iterate over the product once again, and then release "growth hacking" functionalities for a stronger, more organic spread. The replication of the concept is possible, and we have concrete tools for further growth.
Expected results and effects
Results in numbers: - 5 schools - 100 courses - 6500 registered users - Between 150 and 400 new users for each new school - 2500 sold courses for a turnover of 210,000 SEK - 10 local "distributors" / partner organizations from other schools (student associations) - 8 potential ambassadors (students) - Product rating: 4.5 / 5 (from 360 votes) - Automatic categorization of courses possible - Phase 1 of growth is proven: replication at technical colleges.
Planned approach and implementation
1. After an investigation, we realized that the first step of the expansion would be to create an actual branding - more disconnected to "exams", and more oriented towards learning (Kollin stands for Collective Intelligence). Rebranding when we had 3500 users and were going to scale the technical architecture seemed reasonable. 2. We hired an ML engineer to automate our course production, a key to success. He has built a tool (ATEA), whose 1st phase is now completed, and which needs to be optimized. 3. We created many new courses and set up a distribution network at other schools.
