Purpose and goal

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The goal of DREAMIT is to improve resource efficiency in intermodal transport systems. A sub-goal with DREAMIT was also to educate and examine an industrial PhD student who defended his dissertation in June 2020. The purpose of the project is to improve access management through the application of digital information exchange and improved interaction between terminal operators and actors in the transport modes of sea, road and rail.

Expected results and effects

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** By applying the identified access management services, effective access management can be achieved. Effective access management means the right container can be accessed at the right time. With effective access management, turnaround times for trucks and trains can be reduced, which in turn can lead to more social sustainable transport (less stress), less environmental impact (fewer idle runs due to fewer queues and fewer empty runs due to real-time updates) and more economic sustainable transport (more time to transport and need for fewer trucks).

Planned approach and implementation

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The collaboration project, DREAMIT, ended in June 2020. Nine actors were involved from academia, industry and public authority. In DREAMIT, mainly qualitative data was collected in terms of interviews, workshops and observations. Also time measurements of turnaround times for trucks were conducted. To measure these times in an automated way, a Bluetooth Beacon system was installed. Additionally, an API (application programming interface) was implemented to obtain a seamless information exchange between the IT systems of the actors.
