Purpose and goal

The aim of the project has been to develop a conceptual solution for effective tele-remote control and monitoring of wheel loaders used in mining environments and similar applications. The purpose of the project has been to increase the pace of using of tele-remote wheel loaders in industrial applications. The project has carried out a concept demonstration in the target environment, a draw points in an underground mine. We demonstrated insights, challenges and solutions for tele-remote control and monitoring of wheel loaders.

Expected results and effects

Through the work of the project, and in particular the tests and demonstrations, the pace has been increased towards the use of tele-remote wheel loaders in industrial applications such as short-cycle loading in underground mines, quarries, road construction and the like. Results from the project have also moved positions on how machine learning can be used to develop autonomous functions (e.g. automatic loading) and proactive maintenance.

Planned approach and implementation

The project has been implemented in several related areas that have gradually been combined into a coherent result with insights on remote remote control of work machines. This has enabled some decoupled work in the areas covered by the project. The advantage has been good progress in each of these areas. Regular teleconferencing has been held, usually weekly, which has proved to be a good way to enable multi-fronts work with the same system.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
