Important results from the project
The aim of the project was to correct a number of identified shortcomings in the website www.metalliskamaterial.se, i.e. the official site for the strategic innovation program Metallic materials, and also make the site compatible with the browser Internet Explorer 8. The aim could be reached, and so the site functioned as desired at the end of the project.
Expected long term effects
The effect of making the site available to visitors using Internet Explorer 8 was instant, as the number of unique users doubled already on the first day, and persistant, as the effect has remained since then. The facts that the site has a very low bounce rate and that users spend long time on the site also indicate that content and functionality are of good quality.
Approach and implementation
After the launch in April 2014, the Program office has tracked its funcionality, by means of site metrics as well as interviews with internal and external users. These measurements pointed out some deficiencies in the functionality and also that the site was unavailable to a large part of the targeted users. Threafter the developers and host have been asked to remedy the deficiencies. This proved to be an appropriate approach as a good result could be attained in a short period of time.
