Visualisation and traffic management of unmanned traffic

Purpose and goal
The purpose of the project is to design, prototype, and test concepts for Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) for Dubai City in an interactive visualization and traffic simulation. The goals of the project are (1) to visualize in 3D unmanned air traffic (delivery drones) for Dubai City. Moreover, goal (2) is to define an operational concept for unmanned traffic and (3) to use it to define optimal routes for parcel delivery drones.
Expected results and effects
The main innovations (results) are 1) Algorithms for planning routes between multiple points that can handle disturbances and dynamic changes in airspace conditions while traveling. 2) Concepts for monitoring and adapting airspace and traffic. In the long run, the effect is a step towards being able to enable urban traffic with high capacity in airspace. We expect stronger cooperation between actors in Sweden and in Dubai.
Planned approach and implementation
We intend to design a visualization of Dubai with a simulation of drone/unmanned traffic. At the same time we will develop traffic management concepts and operational requirements (eg through workshops). Our partners in Dubai are working on algorithms for route planning. We then design a prototype traffic management tool, coupled to with what we developed for route planning, visualization, and simulation, which we finally test.
