Project duration | August 2014 - March 2015 |
Status | Completed |
Important results from the project
The main purpose of this study has been to generate a basis for decision in order to assess if the idea to use ViscoGel in stem cell applications may be possible to develop further into a commercial concept and to investigate its market potential.
Expected long term effects
The experiments have indicated that ViscoGel is a useful matrix for the transplantation of stem cells. The evaluation of the market potential for a product with this property has shown that more experimental data is needed in order to commercialize the concept and that sale would preferably be performed by companies as a complement to existent products within the stem cell field.
Approach and implementation
The project has been performed in two different premises. One is the heart lab at Karolinska hospital in Huddinge, where both the in vitro and in vivo studies have been performed with the purpose to optimize and evaluate the transplantation of stem cells in the presence of ViscoGel. The second part of the project has been performed at Viscogel AB, Solna with the compilation of existent companies, research groups and ongoing clinical trials and discussions with experts within the area.
