Purpose and goal
Visual Arena at Lindholmen Science Park and the City of Gothenburg have the opportunity to create a test bed “Virtual Gothenburg Lab”, linked to an advanced virtual model of the city. The test bed will identify needs, make data and technology available, as well as develop and test new applications that contribute to solutions on societal challenges. The purpose of the test bed is to establish a model, infrastructure and work method that is also applicable to other cities in Sweden and internationally.
Expected results and effects
Expected effects are for example to create better understanding for change, support analysis, show correlations and contribute to better communication. The test bed “Virtual Gothenburg Lab” will be a part of developing and stimulating the City of Gothenburg´s ways of testing new solutions, thus strengthening the innovation capacity for sustainable development both locally and globally. This also contributes to goal No. 9: "Sustainable Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure" of the 2030 Agenda.
Planned approach and implementation
We will carry out activities such as workshops, interviews and analyzes to gain insights and gather information in order to apply for an implementation project. We choose to work with the “Innovation Guide”, which is a method tool for developing innovative solutions for public sector, from SALAR (Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions).
