Verifying FIREPIPE, a portable stove

Purpose and goal

The purpose and objectives of the project are partially met. Verification has been carried out in Ethiopia in collaboration with KTH. It has provided us with valuable information for the optimization of FIREPIPE.

Expected results and effects

Verification demonstrated that fuel consumption decreases when using FIREPIPE. The verification also provided valuable information on how FIREPIPE can be developed and optimized.

Planned approach and implementation

Performing tests in a real environment (in this case, Ethiopia) is invaluable and challenging. It is hard to predict all challenges and it complicates the collection of information. It has also been challenging to start a collaboration between large companies and humanitarian organizations. Nevertheless, we still believe that this is the road that has the greatest potential for scaling up the FIREPIPE project in relation to the challenges and conditions that the project needs to relate to.
