Purpose and goal

The main aim of the project was to compile knowledge of interactive evolutionary algorithm (IEA) and formulate ideas for research projects that are within or near the area of IEAs. Another goal has been to find the use of digital technologies to explore the solution space of new products. This has been met through the completion of surveys of literature and business intelligence and an application to Vinnova´s call for ”Spjutspetsprojekt för framtidens digitaliserade industri” The project has undergone a sustainability assessment according Swerea IVF procedures in place.

Expected results and effects

The project has largely met the expected results that were: conceptual basis for several cutting-edge projects, a demonstration program that shows the potential and strength of IEA, Sustainability assessments according to Swerea IVF method for this. The project is also to aligned with the objectives of the research programs SIP Lättvikt and Production2030. The project also shows IEAs ability in an interaction with a user explore the solution space and find unique concepts for new products.

Planned approach and implementation

The project has been collaboration between IVF and Chalmers´s adaptive systems. Chalmers has developed the demonstration software used in the project and perform most of the literature study made. IVF has been carrying out a large number of business contacts to investigate the needs of the industry and to compile an application to cutting edge project. IVF has made sustainability assessments in the project. A number of project meetings have been held between IVF and Chalmers as well as an open seminar with participation from industry.
