Important results from the project
The target of the project is to develop a battery-powered MID-approved water meter that uses ultrasonic measurement to measure the flow of water. Prototypes of the meter have been tested according to the requirements specified in the MID standard, i.e. EN 14154-1 and OIML R49, 2006. The test shows that the tested meters meet the accuracy within each flow range specified by the standard.
Expected long term effects
The work shows that the design of the meter as well as the method of measurement works well, and that the accuracy of the meters falls within the requirements defined by MID.
Approach and implementation
The work has been performed by generation of prototypes. Selected prototypes have been tested for flow accuracy. From a series of 20 prototypes, 3 meters have randomly been selected for testing. The limited number of tested meters allows the test result to be tainted with some uncertainty, the test should therefore be extended to a larger number of test items.
