Purpose and goal

New digitized, historical data sources have created opportunities to easily search and visualize historical information. The project aims to create a new commercial product that puts the user in the flow of history. This is done by visualizing family, cultural and local history through data harvesting of several disparate data sources in a new intuitive interface based on a combination of a family tree, a timeline and map functions. The platform has come a long way and now has 550 test users for further development towards paying customers during Q3 2020.

Expected results and effects

The project has created a new web-based platform that puts the user in the flow of history. This is done by visualizing family, cultural and local history via data harvesting of several disparate data sources in a new intuitive interface based on a combination of a family tree, a timeline and map functions. The platform has come a long way and now has succeeded in attracting 550 test users who feedback to Trackuback for further development towards customer launch during Q3 2020.

Planned approach and implementation

We have worked with backend development, frontend development, user testing and marketing of our genealogy research plattform Trackuback. The work has largely gone according to the plans, except for the availability of open data from several authorities that have gone slower than expected. The results from the user tests were far above expectations, where it is clear that our platform and visualization of genealogy and history are in great demand by many.
