Purpose and goal

The work resulted in a new ongoing project where Compraser Labs, Swedish SME:s and British Aerospace works together through two workshops, one on the NCC in Bristol and a planned at AMRC in Sheffield. The business plan with a focus on strengthening the offer in the low-and medium-volume production resulted in a larger project (SVIFFT) funded by the Swedish Agency for economic and regional growth and regions in Eastern and western Sweden. Strategies for high volume manufacturing are however done outside of the project at Swerea SICOMPs other offices.

Expected results and effects

The Top-Up project and the ongoing collaborative project with NCC and AMRC strengthens the position of Compraser Labs, mainly within low-and medium-volume production. The result is a new bilateral research projects totaling 2 MSEK, together with GKN UK and Compraser labs. Our participation in the MoU signed in February 2016 between the regions and Clean Sky, affect future funding of test and demo facility. An example is the funding of SVIFFT project with 12 NMSEK for infrastructure in Compraser labs and a new Swedish Aerospace Cluster.

Planned approach and implementation

Discussions with industry and financiers in England, involvement in the JEC 2016, as well as participation in the RISE, further developed Comprasers business plan with a focus on low-and medium-volume production, both nationally and internationally. A strategic collaboration with Clean Sky, Swedish regions and industry resulted in the SVIFFT project which contributes to a new funding source for advanced test and demo resources, and a stronger position for Compraser Labs.
