Purpose and goal
The purpose of the project was to create a tool for prediction and decision support for traffic related applications using pattern recognition and data mining. We have takes several steps in direction towards this goal. We have started to preprocessing and analysing the data at hand, we have considered simple models for traffic flow prediction, and started visualising interesting aspects of the data. The present condition of the tool is still primitiv but under continued development.
Results and expected effects
Actual outcomes of results and expected effects remain to be realised in the future. There is a strong interest from several partners, e.g. Trafikverket, Saab, Ericsson, SICS, SMHI, Visualisation center, Linköping University, to be involved in the development of different kinds of toll and services related to proactive traffic direction, with comprehensive benefits to society and economy.
Approach and implementation
The project has been carried out to a large extent according to the description and plan given in the application. Some parts of the work took much more time than expected, e.g. the analysis of the data (which we continue with) but also accessing the data, due to the involvement of several groups.
