Tool for upstream analysis - Planning

Reference number
Coordinator VA SYD - VA SYD, Huvudkontoret
Funding from Vinnova SEK 400 000
Project duration January 2016 - October 2016
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The planning project has achieved the following goals: A detailed specification of the method for substance flow analysis and a specification of functionality of a web application. A prototype of the web application for demonstration of the tool. Relevance and generalizability of the specification and the web application have been anchored with the reference group. The specification and the prototype constitute an important basis for decision to move further to a development phase.

Expected results and effects

In the planning project, a specification of functionality has been elaborated that describes a complete tool in terms of user interface, presentation of results, database structure and content, references, and sensitivity and scenario analysis. A prototype has been developed that, on an interactive map, shows piping, different activities, how data can be collected for a defined area made up of grid boxes, and how calculation of pollutant load from the selected area can be presented.

Planned approach and implementation

The planning project has implied review of existing tools for substance flow analysis and management and presentation of data and results in an interactive map. From this, a specification of functionality for the web application and a prototype has been developed. Also, the possibility of using spatially resolved data from Statistics Sweden has been investigated. The results of the project have been presented, discussed and modified in cooperation with the reference group.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
