Purpose and goal

The Project is owned by Refugee Housing AB, a subsidiary of SVID, Stiftelsen Svensk Industridesign and run in collaboration with the IKEA Foundation, UNHCR, SSAB, Triple Steelix, Chalmers, Nordifa and NMC. The aim is to develop a polymer based panel membrane that will replace the cotton canvas currently used in over 600.000 refugee tents annually. The goal is to prototype and test a solution based on automated production with significant longer life span, low price, better comfort, and no use of harmful chemicals during the summer 2012.
