Venture Test beds for society´s challenges

Purpose and goal

Give access to public infrastructure and show the potential of sparsely populated areas as an innovation area where basic community functions become transferable and scalable, as well as achieve capacity to develop the test bed environment. Developing in sparsely populated areas is usually cheaper and can then be more easily scaled up for more complex environments. Knowledge of the test bed concept is present with the project owner and partners. Capacity to economically operate test beds in this environment without a long-term incentive from the state has not been achieved.

Expected results and effects

The great learning in the project is the knowledge of how we ensure the needs of the stakeholders. Here, the Norwegian model Roadmap for service innovation is an important part. We are now known as a test bed of several constellations have demands, projects are ongoing, are applied for, and more inquiries. LARC is an effect of the project. A new innovation-area has been identified during the project, green conversion with the help of hydrogen. By using the knowledge of process that we have built up during the project, needs, stakeholders and a plan for implementation have been prepared.

Planned approach and implementation

We have built knowledge by conducting several projects on the test bed, conducting tests, conducting workshops, events and transformed from having infrastructures to having attractive innovation areas and today make the identified test areas grow. In the development of offers for new areas the accumulated knowledge in the areas of aviation and to some extent healthcare, has provided great benefits. Everything from formalities to anchoring and marketing. Obtained knowledge and methodology have also been worked into the municipality´s regular activities to promote innovation.
