Important results from the project
BM´s objective with the project was to offer competence development to teachers in schools in areas with a high socio-economic index, based on the teachers´ specific needs. The project intended to provide participating teachers with both theoretical and practical tools. 114 teachers participated, which gave the teachers the opportunity to benefit from a collegial exchange and a dissemination of knowledge that did not exist before. As part of the education, the teachers also got to test this in practice as they and their students got to work with BM´s pedagogical school program
Expected long term effects
The project resulted in a semester-long continuing education with 114 participating teachers. They got to take part in different theories about language development methods and then had the opportunity to share experiences, tips and reflections with each other. BM compiled all the reflections in a report. Concretely, this led to the teachers being able to take part in both useful theories and experience from colleagues with similar conditions. It also opened up the possibility of continued cooperation
Approach and implementation
In-service teacher training took place during the autumn term 2020. In August, phase 1 was carried out, starting with a training day with theories on multilingualism and language-developing working methods. In phase 2, a survey was made of the students´ pre-understanding based on the respective school program. The survey was followed by phase 3, a collegial conversation about support strategies. In-service teacher training ended in phase 4 with an evaluative interview with a representative from each school. Training has been completed according to plan.
