Purpose and goal
The purpose of the Swedish Space Data Lab is to create an arena for development, research and innovation with space data as a basis. Through a broad collaboration between academia, government and business, the goal is to create joint capacity when it comes to the use and analysis of space data. Space data is an important part in the digitization of society, provides important tools for increased efficiency and for achieving the global sustainability goals and meeting the challenges created by climate change.
Expected effects and result
The expected effects are that the Swedish Space Data Lab creates an increased awareness of the possibilities of space data, an increased capacity in Sweden to analyze space data and an improved collaboration on methods and tools for analyzing space data. The result of that is that space data is seen as an important part of the work with advanced digitalisation of society and that this in turn strengthens Sweden as an industrial nation and increases the possibilities of managing climate change and its effects on production, society and biological diversity.
Planned approach and implementation
The Swedish Space Data Lab revolves around two main pillars. It is the arena for innovation and networking, aim to bring together organizations with an interest in space data to discuss opportunities and create opportunities. It is also the transfer of knowledge from research to practice, and parts of the work will be carried out as a capacity and competence increasing project with the participating research institutions based on the project that are decided within the project.
