Purpose and goal

The aim with the project was to develop the support offered to independent inventors to increase the commercialization success rate. The suggested approach was to offer evaluation of inventors´ ideas at an early stage to guid the decisions of which inventions to further invest time and money in. Also, material to help inventors communicate the ideas´ commercial potential with stakeholders was demanded. By developing a virtual platform that evaluates the commercial potential and automatically generates an output with for instance financil key metrics, these needs are met.

Expected results and effects

The digital platform meets many of the problems that inventors today meet throughout their innovation processes. Threy are assisted to assess the commercial potential of their invention, which derives an output that visualizes information that can be relevant to present at meetings with potential licencees or other stakeholders. Furthermore, an iterative development tool to support them throughout the entire innovation process is provided. As a complement to the platform, pitching activities are initiated at SUF´s members´ 30 associations.

Planned approach and implementation

The approach to solve the problem has changed several times during the four years that the project has been active, as insights based on insights derived from testing and evaluating different approaches has emerged. Through engagement by members at local associations, in combination with academic insights from researchers at Linköping and Luleå University, as well as masters´ thesis studentes, and through insights from experienced inventors within the organisation, a result thet meets the needs of the inventors has iteratively evolved.
