Purpose and goal

The project The Swedish Innovation Summit 2018 succeeded in developing the content and format of the conference, as well as reaching out to a broader audience. Furthermore the conference resulted in national attention, debate and knowledge sharing within the conference theme Circular Economy. Last but not least the launch of a match-making progress between corporates and startups were very successful.

Expected results and effects

A record high of nearly 500 (55% women) representatives from the Swedish innovation system gathered at the conference. Among the participants where representatives from innovation environments, universities and institutes, as well as national, regional and local leading politicians, policy makers and industry. Also, for the third time, the Swedish Swedish Minister for Innovation & Enterprise participated. The corporates and startups participating in the national match-making program Ignite run at the event were in very general very positive with close to 200 matched meetings.

Planned approach and implementation

The arrangement enabled and stimulated to meetings, interaction and exchange of best practice between throughout the Swedish innovation system. The mixed program, with presentations and panels on stage, combined with three program parts, and 50% women speakers were appreciated by the participants. The event made possible contacts and dialogue between the operational organizations and actors at the policy level. The corporates - startups match-making function that were run at the event rendered a successful interaction between academic innovation hubs and industry.
