Purpose and goal

The goal of the pre-study project, was to design an innovation competition. We have designed an innovation competition for students, and applied for funding to implement this. In the pre-study, the competition´s needs have been defined and formulated, and a detailed competition road map has been made. The goal of the implementation project is to execute the innovation competition and to find new environmental technology innovations for the data center industry, which will be evaluated in the SICS ICE test bed. In this respect, we believe that we have met the project´s goals.

Expected results and effects

An expected result from the pre-study is that we will get the approval to implement the proposed innovation competition. We hope that the innovation competition will result in environmental technology innovations that can be evaluated in the SICS ICE demo facility, and also be of benefit to the data center industry.

Planned approach and implementation

The pre-study has been conducted in close collaboration with project partners. Great importance has been given to the need of the primary stake holder, in order to identify and design a competition in the field of sustainability, which will be both technically and economically sound. Several project meetings / workshops with the project partners resulted identified heat recovery from data centers as the most appropriate focus for the competition.
