Important results from the project
The project has met its objective to build a strong network in the field of waste management and recycling. The project has met its goal that participating companies would gain greater knowledge of the conditions to operate in the Brazilian market. A cooperation agreement was signed between a Swedish part and a Brazilian part regarding export of Swedish environmental technology (Biogas Systems). The project has reached its goal to increase the general level of knowledge of the Brazilian partners, about how an energy- and environmentally efficient waste system can be designed.
Expected long term effects
The expected result has been met, about increasing the strength of the network between Sweden and Brazil in the area of waste management, by doing a number of seminars, meetings and study visits. The expected result of increasing the possibilities for Swedish partners to do business with environmental technology in Brazil has been met since one of the Swedish parts (Biogas Systems) have signed a cooperation agreement with one of the Brazilian parts (Novociclo), about export of Swedish environmental technology.
Approach and implementation
The project was implemented mainly by a serie of seminars, presentations, study visits and workshops with selected partners: A workshop in January 2013 at FURB in cooperation with a previous project that SP had. A two-day seminar in May 2013 at the FURB about Swedish waste management. A meeting/seminar at state level in Santa Catarina about Swedish waste management, as well as a number of television interviews. A workshop at state level in Florianópolis with organizations and officials involved in waste management in Santa Catarina.
