Important results from the project

The project has been an important contribution to the dialogue on higher education of the future and the strengthening of the universities´ ability to meet current and future challenges. Through the exchange of experience between the participating universities in the USA and Sweden, the project has served as a source of inspiration to find innovative ways to renew higher education. The project has also contributed to the development of a platform for further academic collaboration.

Expected long term effects

The project has resulted in an increased understanding of methods for renewing education and the role of universities in a global context. The dialogue with the US partner universities has offered insights into possible responses to common challenges, and has strengthened strategic and academic links between the universities. The concluding conference and anthology have contributed to Swedish and European dialogue on the renewal of education and academic leadership. The project has led to new collaborative initiatives.

Approach and implementation

The organization and project structure have worked well and have contributed to valuable exchange of experience with partners in the USA, and also between the Swedish universities. An appreciated and instructive visit to the US partner universities was carried out early in the project, with broad participation. Implementation has been largely affected by the pandemic, and other project activities had to be carried out digitally. These have also served well as a forum for dialogue and dissemination.
