Venture Challenge-Driven Innovation – Stage 1 initiation

Purpose and goal

The long-term goal of the project is to contribute to a sustainable society by strengthening the business community´s capacity to develop sustainable business models and contribute to Agenda 2030. The objective of Phase 1 has been to map out business actors’ different needs, key sustainability science, leading business development methodology; and develop, test and iterate new tools and innovation processes for sustainable business development. The objectives of phase 1 has been fulfilled.

Expected results and effects

Project results, phase 1: - A customized intro lecture with key sustainability science insights, as a blueprint for business development. - Business development tools and innovation processes for sustainable business development, based on the needs of the target groups. - Tools freely available on www.sustainablebusinesscanvas.com. We expect an increased capacity of business actors to develop truly sustainable business models, once the project results are being used as a result of dissemination through customized and targeted actions in Phase 2 and 3.

Planned approach and implementation

Phase 1 contained the following steps: 1. Mapping the needs of the target groups 2. Mapping of key sustainability science insights and business development methodologies 3. Development/packaging of knowledge, business development tools and innovation processes 4. Testing and iteration with the target groups 5. Evaluation and planning for implementation of the results in phase 2 The project´s target groups during Phase 1 were: 1. CEOs and business developers 2. Board Members 3. Entrepreneurs 4. Investors 5. Incubators, industry organizations and other supporting actors
