Reference number

Funding from Vinnova SEK 332 500
Project duration November 2013 - September 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The project´s goal was to demonstrate the possibilities of linked open data to increase the competence and improve the structure around the process of publishing Linked Open Data (LOD). One of the results, a white paper, describes, among other things, how to get started with LOD, benefits, obstacles, frequently asked questions, several scenarios and takes into account the feedback from a workshop that was held to discuss a draft of the white paper. The project also organized four webinars that were broadcast live. The recordnings are publicly accessible on YouTube.

Results and expected effects

The project´s activities made the concept of Linked Open Data more accessible and understandable. Project results have been disseminated through webinars, a white paper, a workshop, a breakfast seminar and will be disseminated in already planned future presentations of the white paper, even after the project´s end. E-delegationen and SKL will refer to the white paper from their guidance work on Open Date, which will lead to even more organisation who become familiar with Linked Open Data.

Approach and implementation

The project was implemented as a series of activities. A first draft of the white paper was discussed at a workshop with 16 participants, all of whom already familiar with Linked Open Data and ready to provide quality feedback. At the same time four webinars were carried out, where organisations that already use LOD presented how they work with it in their organization. Each webinar was broadcast live via Google Hangouts on Air (with live 10-15 participants) and the recordings are available on YouTube. The white paper has been presented at a breakfast seminar at the end of the project.
