Purpose and goal

Stockholm MED-X has established a process management unit in collaboration with regional industry, academia, healthcare, as well as innovation system facilitators with the aim to strengthen the Stockholm-Uppsala region R&I climate for the development of technology and services that meet health and social care needs. The activities have been focused on interdisciplinary areas of strategic importance to the industry and in line with the priorities of regional institutional actors.

Results and expected effects

Stockholm MED-X has resulted in a plan for organization and process management to provide a strong leadership for progress in the medical technology arena in the Stockholm-Uppsala region. Areas of strength have been identifyed and a number of pilot projects have been initiated. The expected effects are transparency, openness and inclusion that will accelerate the development toward a world-class innovation environment. Parallel to Stockholm MED-X the strategic innovation program MedTech4Health was approved to support innovation in Medical Technology on a national level.

Approach and implementation

Stockholm MED-X is based on existing functions within the Center for Technology in Medicine and Health and has gradually been scaled up with regional actors. Activities such as Think Tanks, workshops, Speed Dating etc. have been used as tools for qualified meetings. Within the establishment of a process management unit a great value was found in creating a consensus on the future strategic challenges and needs for the region.
