Reference number
Coordinator Stockholm Innovation & Growth AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 100 000
Project duration January 2015 - September 2015
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The purpose of STING Day 2015 was to create a forum where innovative startups can get inspiration, knowledge and - above all - valuable contacts that will help them build international growth companies. 150 investors, of which a large portion international, took part at STING Day. In the evaluation of STING Day 2015, 99% of the participants said they had met at least one person who can contribute positively to their company´s development (2014: 96%).

Results and expected effects

Valuable meetings: Many participants appreciated the high quality of networking, eg: ´The invite-only nature of STING really showed, I had the feeling that every single person at the event was carefully picked and the event felt full of interesting people.´ 6 months afterward, we do a survey to see how many investments have been made that were initiated at STING Day. We have afterward been approached by stakeholders who want to work with us on improving closer collaboration btw corporations and startups. We are now launching ´Team Up with Startups´, together with the Chamber of Commerce.

Approach and implementation

STING Day 2015 happened as planned on May 7 at Birger Jarl in Stockholm. Approx 400-450 participants were there during the day. 65 startup companies exhibited their innovations and about 150 investors visited them in the exhibition. Many members of the media attended as well. The program included a balanced mix of motivational speaker (Linas web, Diamorph, Trice Imaging and Spotify), speed meetings, panel discussion with representatives of major companies, pitches and focused networking. Analysis: Even more time for networking and one less speaker for next year.
