Important results from the project
The purpose of the project is to provide a professional solution for mobile users to add music and sound to videos using their smart phone.
Expected long term effects
The result is the iPhone application ´Undertoner´. Through a few simple interactions, the app user can adapt music to a films length and content. By choosing a musical theme, pin-pointing a dramatic climax, adding sound effects and choosing alternative musical ending, the user can add music that suits the film. To enable such unique musical characteristics, an adjusted version of AudioCue, the company´s in-house developed music and audio engine, was developed. The app is planned to be released in Sept.2016 and will have a large variety of musical themes to fit most areas of use.
Approach and implementation
The functionality and interface have been optimised through ongoing user tests to create an efficient tool. The major limitation has been the mobile device´s screen size. Functionality has been streamlined/altered to offer an intuitive user experience. The technology and the creative concept have proven to have large potential. More advance functionality may be added to the iPhone-version, but most probably for desktop (as a stand-alone application or as a plug-in for existing video editing software).
