Important results from the project
The goal of the Södertörn model is to create equitable, prosperous and resource-efficient cities through knowledge-driven, co-creating and value-creating urban development. In order to achieve sustainable urban development, innovative and useful solutions are needed that address the complexities that characterize cities and communities. The Södertörn model is a pioneering example of a form of collaboration for sustainable urban development.
Expected long term effects
The Södertörn model contributes to the following 4 effect goals that are linked to different work packages: a. Establish models for sustainable urban development and grounded decision making that can be utilized in businesses or projects b. Establish urban development that is based on co-creation and the needs of inhabitants and involves community actors c. Strengthen sustainable urban development as a Swedish export product d. Establish arenas for exchange of knowledge and experience that promote a transition to economically, green and socially sustainable urban development
Approach and implementation
The project has analyzed sustainable urban development on the basis of three themes - knowledge driven, co-creation and value creation - where needs and proposals for solutions, strategies, methods and tools to promote sustainable attractive urban development in Södertörn have been developed. These models, methods and tools, have been disseminated as concept ideas in meetings in the Södertörn Academy and the collaboration assembly, as well as through integration in daily activities at municipalities, in companies and the academic community.
