Purpose and goal

The overall aim of the SIA Smart Sustainable Cities is to build capacity and critical mass in SSC research and innovation to enable a sustainability transition in cities worldwide The goals are: 1)To identify actors and potential SSC research and innovation projects, 2)To establish cooperation between actors around SSC 3)To deepen and strengthen the scientific understanding on SSC, 4)To suggest ways for implementation of SSC solutions in Swedish citiess, 5)To create a base for increased international competitiveness of Swedish universities, research institutions and companies.

Results and expected effects

The project has delivered a SIA for Smart Sustainable Cities. It has been discussed nationally and it includes international perspective. This agenda will stimulate new collaborations and networks of academic, industrial, governmental and the civil society actors. It will strengthen Sweden´s international competitiveness and it will enable Swedish cities to become test beds and living labs for innovative SSC solutions. Approach and implementation

The project activities included working- and reference group meetings as well as external workshops. The working group consisted of experts from KTH, City of Stockholm, ERICSSON, ABB, SIEMENS, HS2020, Lund University and SP. It developed drafts of SIA SSC, which have been discussed and agreed upon by the members of the reference group, consisting of representatives of all project´s partners. The project´s coordinator (KTH) and representatives of all partners made strategic decisions concerning Agenda´s report and communication activities.
